International thread

Post by {o} » Mon Jan 12, 2004 12:21 am

I think it's a good idea to create this - dedicated to each non-polish writer - thread.
Here you can talk only in ENGLISH :)

Enjoy :)

{o} - like I think, You did it for Anais and Josephin - for the beginning (I hope so). Nice, quite sweet in fact. I'm amazed, that peopole found thew way to our forum, to this particular subject. Nice to know that ... we are not alone :cheesy:

PITER - "Oh" and "Ah" only in english sounds little ..khm... not for this subject. I didn't read fanfic's either, but one day Ela told me about Antarian Night. That was it. Than was Maxel with Incognito's Spin - one of the greatest stories I've erver read. Try, you'll find it outstanding. I even translate it in polsih, so: I'm waiting for your opinion how am I doing. And for one opinion more (you know what I mean :cheesy: )

LEO, it's not like i've never read a ff before... when i was at my very beginning on this forum, i was reading ffs a lot.. well maybe not THAT much, but i'm not a complete greenhorn ;)..i simply don't like it... it's kind of boring to watch all these characters in the same situations again and again.. almost every ff is about Liz, Max and their endless love.. BORING. i have better things to do...
to be honest, i must admit, that there is number of ffs that are worth reading, like "Scieki..", "Laknienie", or "LKK" of course.. but in fact, there are very few of them and i don't have enough time to spend it, reading every ff, to finally find the good one... :?
SPIN.. i don't know.. maybe.. when i will finally have time, to sleep more than six hours a day

ps: I'm pretty sure, You're doing great

ps2: and the second opinion - positive 8)

PITER - that was nice to mention LKK ... seriously. Thank You.
The other option: now I'm waiting for {o}'s opinion ;) I hope it will by positively checked :D

FF. Hm. Spin and Core are one of thwe kind. Nothing from oh-ah Liz - Max, endless love and kissing her footsteps. No. Its sarcasm, irony, bitterness and normal, sometimes boring, picket-fences life. Great. It's worth few minutes of attention.

Ścieki" i "łaknienie" ? I must read them...I hope I'll find time for that one more thing :D

and anyway - thank you for believing in me ;)

Thanks, piter, for mentioning my two ffs in the "worth reading" ones. I'm really flattered 8) I must say that's right, I am a wonderful writer

I found it. :) It's so sweet of you guys to do this for us! :D

Finding my way through the forum actually wasn't too easy. Nan gave me a link and told me to stop at Twórczo (and then two characters my computer doesn't know...), so I did. I only found the translation of Uphill Battle because she'd written [by Anais Nin] behind it.

It's quite funny, actually, to read Polish. Since my computer only knows western characters, there are sometimes little 3's and other strange numbers visible. I take it they represent certain Polish letters. :)

But well. I don't know a single word Polish. :? I think it's very cool that you have your own forum. Really. I can't recall seeing a forum for a country before. :D

I loved Spin by Incognito, by the way! :D But then again - everybody does. It's such a witty story, with loads of sarcasm and fun, and it's very intriguing, too. :) I really have fallen in love with that story. I just wish she'd finish Core. :(

Well, should get working on my essay now... :?

Hugs,

Stefanie xxx

We use it sometimes, too. Not too often, though. Only when we want to put emphasis on a certain syllable or sound. Like in móeten, which means have to. We rarely use it, however. We use the ë and ï more often. :)
piter wrote:and one more question.. im just curious... :P - how old are You Anais..?
I just turned seventeen, actually. Well, just... In one of the last weeks of August, that is. So, that'd make me... seventeen years and 5 months old (or young). :P My birthday is the 23rd of August. I'm in my senior year of high school. :D

How old are you? You know, this is actually quite a fun topic. There are so many people here with different ages. It's very interesting... :)

Cause I'm still hestitating. Don't know what to do. I want to go to this University, but I'm not sure if they'll accept me... :?

Oh, I wish I knew Polish, too! I fear that it's too difficult for me, though. *sighs*

At first - we haven't got colleges :)

szkoła powstawowa (primary school) - 6 years
:arrowd:
gimnazjum (em... in USA it's called 1st level high school) - 3 years
:arrowd:
szkoła średnia (second level high school, but we call it medium school  ) - liceum (3 years) or technikum (4 years)
:arrowd:
uniwersytet (university) 5 years
I wish I knew Polish, too! I fear that it's too difficult for me
I think so  Polish grammar is terrible

Finally I made my way over here as well.

Hi you guys!!! :D I actually understand what everyone is writing in their posts here

Maybe I should introduce myself or something. I'm Josephin and I'm writing fanfiction. Well, that about covers it, right

I noticed that you were talking about "Spin". Everyone who hasn't read it yet - READ IT! I love that story, and compared to a lot of fanfiction it isn't that long. I think I've read it about ten times. It's my absolute favorite :D

Stef, girlfriend, my computer is having the same problem with translating the Polish characters. The titel of my fanfic here is; Mi ³o ¶ æ niejedno ma imiê [by Max&LizBeliever]. I don't think it should look like that... Hehe, maybe it translates back now so that you Polish people see it correctly. Then it's missing the point completely

I'll have to go to work now. :?

Have a fabulous day everyone!! :D :D

*hugs*

Hi Josephin!

A great idea to introduce yourself.

Just wanted to tell you that I loved Stardust Lady. I listened to it today, and can't help but move on its rhythm. :P I liked the Nostalgia Locomotive better today than I did yesterday. :) I think I just had to get used to it.

{o}: People that can't take a very high education because it's just way over their head - what do they do? Is there some sort of University for them? Do your Universities have, like, different levels? Are those the Academies you talk about, LEO? :|

We have:

Basisschool - Primary School ~ 8 years (you start when you're about 4)
:arrowd:
Middelbare School - High School ~ 4 years when you take the lowest level, 6 years when you take the highest level
:arrowd:
When you've taken the lowest level of High School, you go to MBO (3 years). When you've taken the moderate level of High School (5 years) you go to HBO (I think that's the same as college in the USA - it takes about 4 years). When you've taken the highest level of High School, you go to a University (WO - 5 or 6 years).

Our school system is pretty confusing.

How's the school system in Sweden, Josse?

P.S. {o}: I think I learnt some Polish by looking at your emoticons. :cheesy: Tak means yes, right? And nie means no, or not. That's funny, cause it's niet in Dutch. :)

Academies haven't got different level than university - but they have a specialisation. It means - in Academy of Economics you can study only economics, in Academy of Medicine - only medicine, in University you can study everything :D

If level is too high? Well... You can find paid schools... You can scavenge... But we have high unemployment...
